Click here to complete the end of unit test

TASK:

Design a web quest for another student in your class to complete.
A web quest is a series of tasks or questions linked to a number of websites that have been provided in a document.

Your teacher will select a country within the Asia Pacific region for you to research and your web quest must be based on the following geographic characteristics:

Natural: location, climate, topography, ecosystems
Human: population, culture/religion, education, economy, built environments

You will have 3 lessons to gather information and compile your web quest.

STEPS:

  1. Find a maximum of 8 relevant and worthwhile websites that provide relevant information.
  2. Set up a document or a website with an introductory text of minimum 300 words about your country.
  3. Include images that capture the geographic topic / country you are researching.
  4. Record the URLs (web addresses), the names of the site and a brief description of what is on the sites.
  5. Create at least 3 original questions or tasks for each website. Use the correct Command Terms.
  6. Create a separate answer sheet.
  7. Check the assessment criteria here.
You can create your webquest in a variety of ways:
  1. In a Word Doc: Simple, straightforward, quick, not much of a challenge
  2. http://www.wikispaces.com/: Quite simple and easy to use. Your site will be online for the world to see.
  3. http://www.blogger.com/: A bit more of a challenge, but simple once you get the hang of it. You can include interesting widgets and google gadgets, your webquest will be online for the world to see.
  4. http://www.wordpress.com/: More sophisticated than Blogger, more creative and more control over how your site looks. Your webquest will be online for the world to see
  5. (You'll have to sign up and create an account for option 2, 3 and 4)
Have a look at these two examples:
